The Northern Irish alias makes a blinding return to Cyprus Avenue
Friday, September 27th, Cyprus Avenue saw the return of one of the most revered names on the underground electronic music circuit in the country, Trance Wax. The Belfast based alias of DJ and Producer – Ejeca emerging in 2016 with breakbeat edits of classic trance hits quickly gained the alias a loyal following.
Before we get into his set, lets talk about the support none other than a local rising DJ and absolute talent behind the decks, Lill. Building her name on the Cork circuit Lill has been known for her melodic house classics playing around some hotspots in the city like The Pavilion, The Liquid Lounge and has performed for Big up the Beours. This being her debut in Cyprus Avenue and I can not think of a more suitable candidate to have set the tone for the night.
Stepping slightly out of her comfort zone Lill played a bit more of a gritty set than usual, playing heavy hitters like “Amnesia” by B from E and “Marathon Dad” by Clint, capturing the mood of the night perfectly.
The main act himself did not disappoint and being no stranger to playing in Cork, Trance Wax instantly filled the room with those classic dreamy hits. Known for making edits of absolute classics the crowd was definitely given what they came for.
The downside to a lot of the edits is, they get released for a limited time on vinyl or a limited edition USB on his band camp and once they are gone, they are gone! This makes hearing the likes of âTrance 5â even more unique when when you get to listen to it in a live setting. His edit of âMake the world go roundâ a regular feature in his sets is timeless, when that classic lead comes in everybody is lost in the vibe of the room.
